The Inauguration Ceremony of the Second Council of the School Alumni Association Was Grandly Held

On the afternoon of April 20, the School Alumni Association held the inauguration ceremony of its second council in the multi‑function hall of the Academic Conference Center on the Songshan Lake Campus. More than 200 people attended the ceremony, including: Ma Hongwei, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President of the University; Li Zhonghong, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee; heads of relevant university functional departments (Hu Qinhua, Director of the Party and Administration Office; Peng Xiaobo, Director of the Organization Department; Wang Xiaoji, Director of the Human Resources Department; Wei Dongchu, Director of the Employment, Entrepreneurship and Alumni Affairs Department; Wang Hongcheng, Director of the Academic Affairs Department; Cai Chuanli, Director of the Finance Department; Lao Dan, Secretary of the University Youth League Committee; Cheng Faliang, Dean of the Graduate School; Liu Wei, Dean of the School of Continuing Education); members of the School’s leadership team; faculty representatives; and alumni representatives.

Liu Jiyun, Dean of the School, delivered a speech. She expressed gratitude to all university leaders, functional department heads, council members, and alumni who care about and support the development of the School. She also introduced the recent development and achievements of the School of Economics and Management, and put forward three major ideas for the future work of the Alumni Association: first, to strengthen alumni services and deepen organizational construction; second, to work hand in hand with the alma mater to write a glorious chapter; third, to cherish alumni resources and shape the School’s image. She looked forward to discussing and promoting these ideas together with alumni, and sincerely invited all alumni to return to the School often, to jointly promote the School’s development and create new glories.

Chen Jinlong, an alumnus of the 1993 class majoring in Business Administration and Chairman of Jinrui Hardware & Electrical Co., Ltd., and Associate Dean Liu Chuan of the School respectively gave keynote reports titled "Government‑Industry‑Academia Collaboration Empowers High‑quality Development of Dongguan" and "Painting the Development Blueprint of Dongguan to Empower Continuous Growth of Alumni." These reports made the inauguration of the new council more academic. The two speakers identified points of synergy among enterprises, universities, and Dongguan’s development, put forward constructive suggestions for promoting cooperation between the School and alumni and jointly fostering Dongguan’s development, provided new paths for better government‑industry‑academia‑research cooperation and win‑win progress, and empowered the continuous growth of both the School and alumni.

Members of the new council of the Alumni Association came on stage in batches to receive their appointments, including honorary presidents, presidents, executive vice presidents, vice presidents, directors, supervisors, secretary‑general, deputy secretaries‑general, and secretaries. A flag‑handover ceremony was held between the outgoing and incoming presidents, marking the formal establishment of the second council of the School of Economics and Management Alumni Association.

Liu Zhihe, the newly elected president, made a speech. He expressed sincere gratitude to the university leadership, all members of the Alumni Association council, and the broader alumni community for their trust and support. He felt proud of the university’s vigorous development and stated that the Alumni Association would continuously improve its organizational structure, organize various fellowship activities, and serve alumni lifelong development. He pledged to bear in mind the university motto "Learn to Know Your Shortcomings," carry forward the DGUT spirit of "Patriotic Dedication, Pursuing Excellence," do practical work, and do his utmost to unite everyone in making the Alumni Association stronger and greater.

School leaders and alumni representatives jointly unveiled the first alumni affairs office at the secondary school level — the Alumni Affairs Office of the School of Economics and Management.

Alumni representatives presented flowers to retired teachers, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the teachers’ years of hard work.

President Liu Zhihe, on behalf of the second council, adopted a lychee tree on campus and left a beautiful message: "Master economics to benefit the people, cultivate management talent to govern the world."

Finally, Ma Hongwei, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President of the University, delivered a speech. President Ma expressed sincere thanks to the efforts made by the members of the first council of the School of Economics and Management Alumni Association, and warmly congratulated the members elected to the second council. He also reported a series of achievements the university had made since 2018, and praised the work of the School Alumni Association in uniting alumni, giving back to the alma mater, serving society, and especially in assisting the university with enrollment, employment, and helping alumni in difficulty. He put forward three hopes for the new council: first, to innovate the service model of the Alumni Association; second, to encourage alumni to participate in the university’s development strategies; third, to expand the role of alumni in social services. He sincerely wished all the work of the new Alumni Association council smooth progress and greater achievements.




University leaders, faculty members, and alumni representatives from various industries gathered at Songshan Lake to witness the inauguration ceremony of the second council of the School of Economics and Management Alumni Association of Dongguan University of Technology, marking a new milestone for the School Alumni Association. This transition meeting was not only an affirmation and summary of the previous council’s work, but also an expression of expectation and trust in the new council. The new leadership team will continue to serve alumni, promote exchanges, carry forward alumni spirit, and actively explore innovative measures. It is believed that with the joint efforts of all alumni, the School of Economics and Management Alumni Association will achieve even more brilliant development, making greater contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation among alumni, serving the university, and serving society.
