Major Breakthrough! The School of Economics and Management at Dongguan University of Technology has passed the BGA International Gold Accreditation

Recently, the college received the BGA Gold Certification certificate from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Business Graduates Association (BGA). This honor not only makes the college a BGA Gold-certified business school but also positions Dongguan University of Technology as one of only 63 institutions worldwide to earn this accreditation. It is also the university's first international business certification, marking a new international height for its business education.

On-Site Visit: Comprehensive Assessment and In-Depth Exchange

From April 7 to 8, 2025, the BGA accreditation expert team conducted a two-day on-site visit to the university. University leaders Ma Hongwei, Li Zhonghong, and Xu Yongjun, along with heads of the International Affairs Department, Academic Affairs Department, and the School of Economics and Management, program directors for Business Administration and International Economics and Trade, administrative and academic affairs officers, student affairs officers, as well as representatives of faculty, students, alumni, and employers, jointly participated in the visit meetings.

During the visit, President Ma Hongwei expressed gratitude to the AMBA & BGA International Accreditation Advisory Board for the opportunity to host the visit, provided a detailed introduction to the founding history and disciplinary development of Dongguan University of Technology, with particular emphasis on the university's development strategy and distinctive educational features, and noted that the BGA accreditation adheres to the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), with its Continuous Impact Model (CIM) being highly aligned with the university's development strategy, as the university has always placed great importance on the principles of responsible management education, integrating them into all aspects of its work and striving to cultivate responsible talents for society.

Dean Liu Jiyun presented the strategic report on behalf of the college, comprehensively elaborating on the college's basic information, mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives. The expert panel posed targeted questions regarding the dean's report, the college's BGA self-assessment report, and the design and development of the Continuous Impact Model (CIM), to which the college leadership team provided on-site responses.

As model programs for this accreditation, the program directors and some faculty representatives from Business Administration and International Economics and Trade engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with the accreditation experts on program development, and provided on-site answers to the experts' concerns regarding the design and optimization of talent cultivation plans, core curriculum development, teaching effectiveness evaluation, and alumni engagement.

High Recognition: Affirming Achievements and Offering Development Suggestions

After two days of rigorous and meticulous on-site visits, the accreditation expert team conducted a comprehensive assessment of the college based on the BGA (Gold) accreditation standards and extensively gathered evaluations and opinions from stakeholders including faculty, alumni, employers, and student representatives. The expert team fully affirmed the work and achievements of both the university and the college, highly commending the college's educational characteristics, disciplinary construction, and teaching quality, while also offering constructive suggestions for the college's sustainable development and continuous improvement.

Five Years of Effort: The Transformation from Member to Gold Certification

Since obtaining BGA membership in May 2019, the School of Economics and Management has comprehensively formulated and implemented a detailed accreditation plan. Over these five years, the school has continuously built and improved itself in accordance with international standards, achieving a series of outstanding results. In 2022, the school won the "Global Business School Excellence Award Silver Award"; in 2024, it further received the "BGA Business School Impact Highly Commended" award. The successful attainment of BGA Gold Certification is the culmination of years of effort by the school and represents a strong affirmation of its educational standards and level of internationalization.

Future Outlook: Deepening Integration to Build a Regionally Influential Business School

Achieving BGA Gold Certification has laid a solid foundation for the school's development. In the future, the school will continue to pursue continuous improvement, comprehensively enhancing its educational standards. Rooted in Dongguan, it will fully leverage its own strengths to provide strong intellectual support to the local community, commit to cultivating application-oriented business elites who integrate engineering strengths, possess social responsibility and innovative spirit, and strive to become a sustainable application-oriented business school with significant regional influence.

This accreditation is not only an important milestone in the college's disciplinary development but also forms a deep synergy with the university's overall strategy. The college will further deepen the "engineering + business" interdisciplinary integration, continuously making efforts in areas such as refining disciplinary directions, co-building research platforms, and optimizing the professional degree talent cultivation system. Leveraging the international standards and application-oriented characteristics of its business education, the college will provide interdisciplinary support for the university's application for a doctoral degree authorization unit and inject new, strong momentum into achieving the "coordinated development of multiple disciplines" educational framework required for the university's goal of renaming as a university.
